Ali's Potty Training

Update: It's been a week and Ali still hasn't gone on the potty once!! Her excitement was deceiving! I figure I'll give it some more time but then not sure how to overcome. They say you can't push them but I'm gettin frustrated...any suggestions?!Help...stubborn children are challenging to potty train? Who's been there?

I'm Blind!!

So, This blog is mostly for my girls but I have to share about my week! As most of you know, I fell at work about a week and a half ago and got a concussion. I figured that I would be fine after a few days but it took almost a week to feel normal again..I walked around feeling loopy! Driving was a bit dangerous so I opted to be driven around like Miss Daisy! Then three days ago my right eye started throbbing and feeling like my contact was scratching my eye. After Tim and I split up almost 2 years ago, my eyes were the least of my concerns, so.....I've had the same contacts for 2 years. I guess that wouldn't be so bad if they had been taken out or cleaned in those 2 years!!! I reluctantly went to the eye doctor yesterday and found out that I have scarred my corneas by my actions. The doctor would not recommend nor prescribe me contacts. He said I need to wear glasses for the next 6 months to a year to give my eyes a break!! Awesome...way to go Steph!!Now ya did it!! So....here's probably the last picture you will see of me without glasses for the next year : - )

Ps..notice the acne Kris? Hope you feel better about yours?! LOL

Day 2 of Potty Training

I tried to Potty train Ali while ago but threw in the towel because she is waaaay too head strong and it was really painful for me!!! Since she is almost 2 1/2 now I decided it was time once and for all to begin this painful process...it's definitely a different ball of wax with Ali because she is sooo stubborn and only wants to do what she wants to do... when SHE wants to do it...I'm trying to make this seem like her idea :-) Gotta be smarter than the average bear! Here are some tasteful pics of her potty training

Our Big Day Out!!

I was so excited to read about the Kidsfaire that was coming to town last weekend. It sounded great...tons of activities, characters, and crafts for the kids to enjoy.I loaded the kids up and went to the University of Phoenix Stadium on Saturday morning...I was so dissappointed for the kids!! Within 30 minutes, there was way too many people combined with way too many vendors trying to sell services to the parents!! I'm not claustorphobic but I felt like it. Barney was there so I tried to hold both the girls up to see him...it was a good upperbody workout foresure!! As you see from the pictures, he was a ways away but they got to see him anyway!! We didn't stay long but the girls did get to be a princess for a moment and I bought some yummy homemade peanut butter(Apricot, White Chocolate Raspberry, and Cajun Thai)...Not a day totally wasted:-) Hopefully next year they will hold it at a bigger place so it can be enjoyed!!! Enjoy the pics

I'm thankful for...

So today I decided to copy an idea my friend had the other day about asking the kids what they were thankful for. This was an entertaining idea for a 2 and 3 1/2 year old. I sat the girls down and explained what it meant to be thankful and asked them what things were good that God had given them. At first they were naming people they were thankful for...grandma mary and pa..grandma and papa..daddy. Then we moved into being thankful for cheese, California(which Ali thinks is a person), and Tutor Time. The big kids in the house go to Tutor Time, so Hailey says.."God doesn't have Tutor Time but Jayden does". Ali said "Thank you for my God and my stuff". Hailey said"I'm thankful for all about God. Thank you for all about captain".Whatever that means!! Oh to be in the minds of children!

Sugar Cereal..mmmm

We've been spending a lot of time with my brother, his wife and their kids lately.Hailey and Ali LOVE their cousins!! They are attatched at Anna's hip all day..thank goodness she loves it!! She is 11 after all and could be in the stage of everything being an inconvenience..thank God she is on board for all the activities they ask her to do!! We stayed the night the other night and when we got up, my neice and nephews were having fruit loops. This was a problem for me since I don't choose to let my children eat sugar cereals. I tried to give my kids rice krispies but they weren't pleased with their boring cereal so I had an idea...we'll top their krispies off with fruit loops!! So for anybody who says "Your poor kids"...they had sugar cereal!! :-)

Hailey finally gets a haircut!!

So I've been trying to get Hailey over to get a haircut for quite awhile but hadn't. The trip to a salon with two toddlers is not my idea of a good time..keeping one out of things while trying to keep one's head down so the lady can cut her hair!! Yesterday was a dream though!! Ali fell asleep on the short drive over to the salon and didn't wake up the entire time..Thank you Lord!!
Hailey did really well considering that I decided to penny pinch and bring her to a regular salon instead of the childrens salon where they entertain them for you. Hailey was SO proud of her new haircut..she wanted to go right over to grandma's house and show her!! It's Ali's turn next....

The Cousins

Last Friday, my sister in law arrived at my parents house. With her were my niece and nephews, who I haven't seen in almost 4 years!! They surprised us all by driving out from Michigan. The last time I saw all of them was when Hailey was 1 month old, which means that Ali had never met them. My niece,Anna, is now 11. My nephew Micheal is now 9 and Frederic is 2. I had never even met Frederic until last week so it's been awesome! It is so nice to see the cousins playing together. Hailey and Ali are such peanuts so it is funny to see Frederic next to them..He is bigger than both of them. Remember he is 2 and Hailey is almost 4!! I'll have to get a pic of them together..but for now these are the pics I have of the kids playing...

Hair Day

The other day, Hailey decided she wanted her hair curled. She has only had her hair curled a few times and she gets sooo excited when she looks pretty!! I asked Ali if she wanted her hair curled but she said no, so we just put her hair in pig tails. In the process of curling Hailey's hair, I burned her shoulder!! My mom and grandma always said" Beauty knows no pain" ....we'll see if Hailey agrees with that!!LOL

We're off to see the wizard!

So Hailey and Ali went to see Grandma Mary,Pa, and Daddy like 2 months ago and came home interested in The Wizard of Oz. They began asking for the movie so I went out and bought it. The "interest" has turned to "obsession"!! The girls watch the movie everyday and don't get tired of it. They now have red shoes that they wear inside only...cuz mom is no fun and won't let them tool around town in them!! They sing all the songs and dance to "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" and "Ding Dong the Witch is dead". They know all the munchkin lines while Dorothy is in Munchkin Land, and know what each character is in search of. The cutest thing was when they were at grandma Jills last week. The girls put on their red shoes and Grandma put on her red flip flops and they "followed the yellow brick road". They marched in a line all over the house singing. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen. Go Grandma!!
